This week we discussed the wireless infrastructure. We talked about the major carriers ant the types of networks they use. Also, we talked a bit about the differences of networks in other countries and the difficulties in getting devices to work across networks. As the networks upgraded to 3G, and now toward 4G, it has become apparent that customers are demanding more than just voice from their networks. Even now, with technologies such as mi-fi and wi-max, there is a demand for purely data-driven services.
I've always found cell technologies interesting, and I saw their potential early on when they first began to offer data services. I'm fairly certain that this is a topic I would like to explore for my project.
I'm interested to know if any of you had adopted cellular data service in the early days, and your thoughts on how the technology has developed over the years.
